I have always resisted classifying myself as an artist.  To be an artist was always someone who could draw, paint beautiful pictures, and/or sculpt . . . things I was never able to do.

Over time I have broaden my definition of an artist; which includes music, acting, dancing, writing, photography, weaving and the list goes on.

So I have finally felt comfortable calling myself an artist.  Even though family and friends have been doing so for awhile now.

Here are some descriptions of an artist that helped me come to this place . . .

The word art is derived from the Latin "ars", which, although literally defined means, "skill method" or "technique", holds a connotation of beauty.

Art is defined as the products of human creativity and artist is defined as a person whose creative work shows sensitivity and imagination

An artist also may be defined unofficially as "a person who expresses him- or herself through a medium"

So as I see it . . . I do produce items of beauty which often times show sensitivity and always imagination.  And I have many mediums I choose to express myself through. : )

I have gone through my photo files and pulled some examples of one of my artistic mediums; paint.

He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.

He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist"
